I'm Carolina de Barros, a sex and relationships researcher currently working at the University of Glasgow, Scotland.

I'm a social psychologist, specializing in minoritized identities and experiences. I am particularly interested in the experiences of sexual minorities, as well as people who are in diverse forms of romantic relationships (e.g., queer relationships, consensually non-monogamous relationships, kinky/BDSM relationships, non-sexual relationships). For my dissertation, I studied how people in diverse forms of romantic relationships navigate what it means for a relationship to be "romantic" and the social or cultural norms their relationships challenge. I'm also interested in other forms of minoritized identities and experiences, including gender diversity and experiences of disability, mental illness, and neurodiversity.

I'm a big fan of mixed-methods work, and have both qualitative training and experience (using interpretative phenomenological analysis, reflexive thematic analysis, and grounded theory, among others) as well as statistical training and experience (including with SEM and multilevel modelling, among others).

I'm currently working as a research associate with the Natsal-4 project at the University of Glasgow, in the School of Health and Wellbeing.
